Guest guest
I apologize for seeming put off by your respect for people in the military. I am simply bemused. I can't say that I have ever had respect for a whole category of beings - some, maybe, but not all ;=) Like, some teachers, some lawyers (oh yes, but only a couple ;=)), some doctors, some plumbers, some salespeople .... but why go on. Identifiable by uniform or by profession or both, a whole category of people deserves respect? Yours maybe, not mine - but then we are different people ;=) Anyway, I was actually Hmmmm-ing over your *not* counting this whole category of people (ie.the military) among the murderers and dictators of my previous example. All murderers and dictators may not serve in the military, but some do and have; all military groups may not include murderers and dictators, but many do. That's all. Guest guest
Geez, I was just stating that people enlist in the military for a variety of reasons...And veterans whom fought wars that didn't concern them but did so b/c it was their 'duty' deserve my respect. On Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, I think about them...Not just get off on the fact that it's a holiday. No I don't respect everything about the military, no I don't respect murderers and every single person on the face of the planet that has had anything whatsoever to do with a military. You're reading too much into a comment. And I will stand by my original post defending those that have enlisted in OUR, ie, USA's armed forces. Someone else on this list felt they were all evil scum for enlisting. I simply threw out the " until you walk a mile in their shoes... " as a way of telling him he shouldn't be so goddamn judgemental. All this nonsense about dictators and murderers is a major stretch from what I was actually talking about.
