Guest guest
1960s term of opprobrium used by right wing buzz-cut red-necks to sneer at peace protestors, the " nik " suffix being a slur indicating that anyone protesting for peace or against the Viet Nam war was somehow aligned with the Bolsheviks and other Russky Commie conspirators. Guest guest
hey, i've had a few people call me a beatnik because i'm into beat & slam poetry (among other types of poetry). I consider it a badge of honor. At least it shows someone thinks I'm different. *grin* Megan - > 1960s term of opprobrium used by right wing buzz-cut red-necks to sneer at > peace protestors, the " nik " suffix being a slur indicating that anyone > protesting for peace or against the Viet Nam war was somehow aligned with > the Bolsheviks and other Russky Commie conspirators. > > Ludicrous term all around.
