Guest guest
Well said, Gene. To Dave4Sale: Unless you've seen round muzzle flashes at night, watched tracers light up a pitch black night, and felt the repeated impact of an AK-47 on the ground around you, then you're just talking shit about war and much less about antiwar. When it comes to attention, what do you really want? DaveO The Stewarts [stews9] Oh, brother. You're kidding, right? No one is more anti-war than those who will have to go die for some idiot politician. Soldiers and Sailors, Airmen and Marines, even Coast Guards are all anti-war to a much more personal level than comfortable little theorists in their gardens of projected illusion. " they may very well believe they are doing the right thing. i must agree with you that those people who spat on the viet nam soldiers are idiots. but that doesn't exactly make the soldiers geniuses. everyone keeps posting how someone very close to them served in the military and how they're a wonderful person. My grandfather served in WW2, btw. but just because good people have served in wars doesn't make war good. and being ordered to do something doesn't make it okay either; nazi soldiers were ordered to torture jews remember. personally if drafted i'd choose jail over going to war. i would not be able to take someone's life. i don't expect everyone to make the same choice. No, i'm not saying everyone in the military gets brainwashed into an apathetic killing machine. i don't want soldiers to die either. I just disagree with their decision to fight. There wouldn't be any wars if everyone refused to fight- george w and sadam sure as hell won't duke it out. You may think that thinking is unrealistic, because one soldier quitting won't stop a war. but meat-eaters have the same mentality- even if i don't eat meat, most people do so what's the difference? i still feel eating meat is not right, and ditto war.
