Guest guest
Hi, I have been here for awhile. i tend to be quiet on and off lists. I've been a veggie for about 18 years. I'm also a pediatric nurse and a Jungian therapist. I work a lot of hours and don't always keep up with the postings (sorry :-(). SO if the following was already mentioned I apologize for being redundant. Today Seattle is celebrating TET--the Vietnamese new year. In Viet Nam it is a month long celebration. There will be a dragon dance with fire crackers. Then everyone goes inside for skits and speeches. It is a time for honoring the ancestors, the elders and the children. And a time for renewal. Houses were cleaned and special foods made in preparation. Children will present the elders with flowers (if I remember right) and then line up and receive little red envelopes with money inside from the elders. My grandchildren are adopted from Viet Nam and we always look forward to this as one of the ways we can help them learn about and honor their country of birth. So although this way off-topic--Have a Happy TET, all. Max
