Guest guest
In regards to all the " fighting " on the list, let me explain something. I was once a member of a different veg list that had tons of folks voicing all kinds of opinions, arguing and being generally rude. I tollerated the list for a long time simply because I like the recipes and needed a sense of community in this town of cow eaters that I reside in. The list got so bad that eventually a couple of us talked of a revolt. It was a hushed thing, often threatened, rarely done, because who really wants to own a list as time consuming as it can be? Eventually, a few of us left, and formed this group. Feral was the rebellion of another list, a colonizing experience where there was freedom of religion and political slant, where one could voice their opionion but do it in a way that was peaceful and caring. I wanted a community, be it on line, of people who understood what it was like to start down the path of a vegetarian. I wanted to exchange recipes, good tried and true ones, to give helpful support of a member whose family thinks she's mentally looo looo for not eating meat... to be friends in a sense. For a while, we were. For a while, this group was what I had been looking for, and apparently, it was what many of you were looking for as it quickly gained membership. As it grew, new voices came and new opinions evolved and debate and friendship reigned. It was great. That is what I am here for, not the political debates on conservative verses liberal. Not the debates on one diet or the other. A bit of both is fine and has opened my eyes on some issues. Other emails I simply don't read as they don't pertain to me. But please be aware that this list is owned and moderated by our very own favorite Patcholli Troll (sorry, I can't spell) and if she wants the list to go a certain direction, well, that is her perogative. It is called natural selection. She is exerting selectional force to cause the group to mature in one way or the other. It is her list, it is her choice. I personally like the warm fuzzy group and hope that it doesn't go away. I dont mind the occasional debate, but really wish you would keep extended discussions off list. But, that is just me. You all seem to think that discussion is good, so here is my perspective. Take it for what it is, but be ware that I have no mind for argueing or debating, it is simply not my style. But I am more renowned (well, maybe not noticed at all ;=)) for an exit stage left (not right) from the kind of word play that has been going on here lately.
