Guest guest
Now now, be nice. Don't encourage me. All I meant -- and I apologize for the nasty tone, it comes from reading too many liberal media accounts I guess -- is that the term " liberal " has undergone several major changes of meaning in my own lifetime, and each group tends to use what ever interpretation they wish to further their arguments, often at the expense of the dictionary renditions. For a very interesting, detailed Platonic imaginary dialogue about this sort of thing, check this: http://rense.com/general34/orwell.htm On Thursday, January 23, 2003, at 12:29 PM, (AT) (DOT) com wrote: > This ought to be great!!! Nothing could be further from the truth. " The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else. " --H L.
