These are just my recipes, and some of them are made

to my taste; do what works best for you.

Easy Proletariat Vegan Chili

(this recipe is based on the idea that you dont have

time to get your fresh basil, or puree your own

tomatoes, etc... if you can substitute fresh for

canned.. go for it)

1 Can Red kidney beans, drained

1 Green Pepper, chopped roughly

1 Spanish onion, large, chopped roughly

1 1/2 cups white rice

1 cup tvp

1 big can diced tomatoes

1 regular can unflavoured tomato sauce

1 Handful White Button mushrooms, chopped

2 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon dried basil

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon Franks Red Hot

1 tablespoon tabasco sauce

1/2 tablespoon dried chili pepper flakes

1. Cook your rice halfway; 2 pts water 1 pt rice, when

water is mostly gone toss in chili powder, basil,

chili pepper flakes, red hot sauce, tabasco sauce and

stir madly for about 30 seconds. The rice will suck up

the heat.

2. In a large pot, dump your tomato paste, canned

tomatoes (juice too) tomato sauce together and mix

well, especially the paste. Turn on medium low heat

and throw in tvp and all the vegetables. Mix

3. Toss the rice mix (liquid too) into the tomato

sauce pot, turn heat up and continue stirring until it

is bubbling lightly. It's very important to keep the

food moving when the heat is high. When it is steaming

and bubbling, turn the heat down to low and let

simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes,

with a lid if possible.

If it looks too watery at any given point, you can

simmer it without the lid; the moisture will evaporate

but leave the flavour.

The most important rule in cooking is; follow your

gut, be confident, it's only food, you can mess up and

try again later.

oh, dont forget the garlic... this is a quick

workingWOman's dinner, you can use a tablespoon or two

of powder. I prefer the fresh stuff. It makes my

fingers smell funny. Then I chase goths around and

wave my fingertips at them, telling them that it only

takes the garlic smell to kill wannabe vampires.
