And my personal experience, rather than opinion (i'm not a scientist),

is that I feel better if I combine proteins as _Diet for a Small Planet_

suggests. I understand that this necessity to eat combined proteins at

each meal has been debunked - that a 24-hour period works just as well -

but I find that I get a greater buzz (if I can use that technical term

;=)) if I eat, say, brown rice or corn or whole-grain bread in the same

meal as beans or lentils. Obviously, I eat less of each category if I am

to eat them together - otherwise I'd balloon ;=) Anyway, it works for me

in a practical sense because then I don't have to think what I ate 23

hours ago or worry two days later that I might have neglected some

proteins.

 

And if *this* kind of combining isn't necessary at all - and some say it

isn't - then certainly it does me no harm - in my experience.

 

Understand, I don't take _Diet for a Small Planet_ as a 'bible' -

although I still use a couple or so recipes from there (her whole wheat

and sesame bread is *great*, for example) - but I don't toss it out just

because someone else has made their rep on a different theory or

experience ;=)

 

Yes, I'd be very interested to pursue this issue on list ;=)
