Guest guest
I got this from my friend who sent the Canola oil info to me. So I'm sending this to you all. Sorry about any confusion. Hi, Yesterday I forwarded an article about Canola oil without checking with Urbanlegends.com or snopes.com. It rang of truth...probably because I'd read it before. The rebuttal articles point out that the manufacturers of Canola oil state that it is not harmful..... I doubt that they would say anything else. The cigarette manufacturers still maintain that smoking tobacco is not harmful....so that doesn't really count. They gave Canal oil to test subjects for 21 days and they did not develop any diseases! Wow. What a surprise. Not exactly legitimate research. I found out that the article was not intended as a hoax but was taken from a book on reversing the aging process by John Thomas and put into an online newsletter by Jim Lynn. It may very well be that these people are mistaken or that they have blown the risk out of proportion, or it could be that they have some valid concerns. Regarding the concerns about carcinogenic chemicals formed when Canola oil is heated even the rebuttal letter on Urban Legends states: The scientific data showing a link between chemical emitted by Canola oil at high heats is not overwhelming at this time. Still, until more definitive evidence is found, it's probably best not to use canola oil in frying or cooking at high heat. Considering that canola oil is primarily used for cooking this is not exactly giving canola oil a clean bill of health. I am grateful for my friends that have pointed the rebuttal arguments out to me, and apologize for not checking it out before sending. However I am not all that convinced by the arguments used, so will pass on my thoughts on what else I learned about canola oil. Certainly, the original warning article seems to be using fear mongering tactics which detracts from its credibility. I will leave it to your good judgment to come to your own conclusions. To your health! ===== FOOD FOR THOUGHT --------------- If procrastinators had a club, would they ever have a meeting? ____________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals..ca
Guest guest
I am really not so sure that your article was all a bunch of hype. I have also read some not-so-good things about Canola, and from reputable sources. If you are interested in doing some interesting reading on the subject, try this site: http://www.mercola.com At the top of the page, in the " Search " box, type " canola " , and it will list several interesting articles. I think I'll stick with the olive oil too. cheryll
