Guest guest Posted January 3, 2003 Report Share Posted January 3, 2003 They were calling the blurb on the boxes that compare Quorn's source proteins to mushrooms misleading on the grounds that it's not a mushroom at all but rather a kind of fungus found in soil. Mycologists found this argument amusing, as " mushroom " isn't a technical term anyway, so being a stickler about it is rather pointless. Also, Quorn's source proteins are much safer than mushrooms, being vat-grown in controlled conditions and not prone to the occasional toadstool spore...
