They were calling the blurb on the boxes that compare Quorn's source

proteins to mushrooms misleading on the grounds that it's not a mushroom

at all but rather a kind of fungus found in soil. Mycologists found this

argument amusing, as " mushroom " isn't a technical term anyway, so being a

stickler about it is rather pointless.

 

Also, Quorn's source proteins are much safer than mushrooms, being

vat-grown in controlled conditions and not prone to the occasional

toadstool spore...
