Guest guest
This is a very 50's appetizer, although I remember my mom always making it in the 70's for parties. Very easy: Fabulous Fifties Cheese and Olive Ball At least 2 kinds of cheese, cubed into 1/2 inch squares (I like cheddar and pepper jack) At least 2 kinds of olives, green and black Small cherry tomatoes (optional) Chunked pineapple in small cubes (optional) 1 head of purple cabbage (but regular green cabbage OK too--doesn't make any difference since you don't actually eat the cabbage) 1 package of toothpicks (get fancy ones or colored ones to be festive) 1) Plunk the cabbage on your serving plate. 2) Assemble cheese, olives, and cherry tomatoes onto the toothpicks. Ya'know: cheddar cheese, black olive cherry tomato, next toothpick: pepper jack, green olive, pineapple and so on in various patterns. 3) Insert the end of the cheese & fruit laden toothpicks into the cabbage. Make enough of these mini kebobs to cover the whole cabbage so no purple cabbage leave is visible. You end up with a very festive and cheesy looking (har har) ball o' toothpick kebobs. Very 1950's spaceage sputnik satellite looking space-age bachelor pad cocktail party type of appetizer that's pretty fun and very easy. rwhitt1212 [rwhitt1212] Tuesday, December 31, 2002 10:15 AM Re: New Years Eve request Does anyone have any appetizer recipes they would share. Something fairly simple. We are invited to a party this evening where everyone is to bring appetizers for a buffet. Thanks in advance.
