I thought many of you would find this useful. I read this in the ListHelp

group: many people there were very bothered by ads.

There is a FREE TOOL FOR WINDOWS which renders AD-FREE. It's called

AdShield, it installs into Internet Explorer, and builds

a block-list of graphic ads you don't want to see. I don't see a single ad

when participating in any forums. If one DOES pop up, a quick

right-click eliminates it forever. It's www.adshield.com I believe.

Also, search for and disable FLASH if it is infecting your computer. Flash

is 's animated ad tool of choice - why would I install something which

makes my system a display device for ads I don't want to see? Yes, I might

occasionally miss some cool Flash anim website front end. Too bad. And if

said website has no other method of entry? Too bad again.

An alternate means of doing this is using a text-based

mail/news program rather than OE.

I use Agent by Forte, and love it. Eudora is another

highly-regarded text-based program.

There are NEVER any graphic ads in my mail!

I would not be too hasty in disableing Flash on your system. Disabling or

eliminating ads is one thing, but Flash is just a web tool like HTML, which

is the basis for displaying ALL information on websites. I have seen some

pretty impressive uses of Flash for non-ad purposes. So, I'd weight the

bigger issues before disabling it.

By the way, the adshield link is www.adshield.org
