Crudus in latin means raw.

Crudites is French for raw things. It's pronounced crew-dee-tays (or, more

correctly, tehs) with the accent on the last syllable, as always in French

words.

In buffets, it means sticks of raw carrot, cucumber, celery and flowerets

of cauliflower etc... that are arranged around a bowl of dip like guacamole,

hummus or whatever. You grab the stick, dip it in the dip and then put it in

your mouth.

Okay, the ranch dip I don't know, let's leave the answer to Sherri who made

it!
