Guest guest
*Whew* The party is over, and was wonderful as always. I’m glad all the work is done with for another year. The food was wonderful, got lots of compliments. Thank you all so much for the quick response with recipes! Someone asked me to post what I made, so here’s a list, near as I can remember: - grilled vegetables drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar (eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers, green peppers, yellow peppers, asparagus, green beans, onions) - foccacia - herb beer bread - brownies - chocolate chip cookies - cheesecake - assorted cheeses and crackers/melba toasts and cold cuts (for the carnivores, though they probably wouldn’t have missed the meat with all the other wonderful stuff) - guacamole dip (sour cream, avocado, tomato, lime juice, spices and herbs) - crudités with ranch dip - fruit with cream cheese dip - cold sesame noodles - potato salad (oil and vinegar style, not mayo, so I didn’t have to worry about it sitting out all evening. Is it still considered German style if there’s no bacon in it?) - vegetable sushi (avocado, cucumber, carrot – too damned much work, next time I’ll just buy it pre-made at the grocery store. Theirs is just as good as mine and reasonably cheap) - spinach dip in pumpernickel bread bowl - hummus, roasted garlic, various mustards to “spread on bread” - mulled cider (Williams Sonoma makes an excellent mulling spice blend, and the whole house smells wonderful with this simmering in a crock pot all evening) BTW, my apologies to anyone who was offended by the sig quote on my last email. I don’t even notice them most of the time. Yikes! I’m glad a few people got a chuckle out of it though Also, in case anyone is interested, I got the results of my latest blood tests yesterday. Almost everything is back within normal limits! Steroids really suck, but they’re doing the trick. Even my protein and iron are back up to acceptable levels. Its sooooooooo nice to almost feel like myself again. Thanks again to those of you who sent various smoothie recipes when all I could do was force down liquids, and to everyone for the steady supply of great recipes. It’s definitely helping me do this meatless thing the right way this time. -- Sherri After things go from bad to worse, the cycle will repeat itself. Guest guest
If you could see the look on my face! We call that " relish tray " here in the midwest US. Usually also served with the really great dip... The possibilities are now endless!! I can volunteer to bring an exotic, French dish to the next potluck: Crudites and Cold Fondue. You have definitely widened my horizons!!
