Richard... it's a good thought about leather. I too, grew up on a farm

and so have views different from many city slickers. =) Most cattle

killed in this country are killed for their meat, the bones, skin and

other extras are utilized as much as possible, making gelatin, makeup,

and leather. As the cow is not being killed for the leather, I don't

have much of a problem with it... plastics and other synthetics are

made from dead dinosaurs (or some plants that died a long time ago) and

will never decompose. Leather will. I say support the folks of the US

and let the people with the oil keep the oil... But that's just my

thought... of course, if you don't do leather, then rawhide dog chewies

are out too, and that just isn't an option some times...

Sadly for my dogs, they had to give up rawhide chewies.

They don't chew them, they rip them into shreds and swallow

the shreds - both are very destructive chewers (I mean of

things they're *allowed* to chew).

I was really seriously afraid they'd choke on the rawhide,

and I can't see being able to get my hand down a large

hysterical dog's throat to pull out a piece of rawhide. So

no rawhide for my guys. :(

I know many other dogs handle the rawhides OK but mine sure

don't. They have to satisfy their urge to chew with a

couple of biscuits each day. They seem OK with this.
