Guest guest
Ok guys. Its that wonderful time of year where the wonderful family gets together and I always end up being the butt of many jokes for my choice of lifestyle and eating habits. LOL All kidding aside, I do love my brother and sisters but year after year the ‘tree hugging, tofu eating hippie” jokes get a tiny little bit old. (And this is after much meditation on lovingkindness two hours prior to their arrival!!) Its really not anything I take serious (I don’t feel it necessary to live up to their ideas of perfection.) and probably egg it on myself with my own bantering, but I do need some quick thinking, funny come back lines. Remember- we are keeping it light and trying to be funny. So help me out!! With kindness, The tree hugging, tofu eating hippie! LOL) PS- The hippie generation was about 10 years prior to my arrival on the scene so I am not sure where that comes from but it is the pot calling the kettle black since my sister is 11 years old than I and I can still see her up in her room dancing to the Beetle and “Bye Bye Miss America Pie”!! Really when you compare plates, ours has the more colorful, flavorful, and delicious assortment. Theirs is full of browns, greys, and tans And most of it tastes pretty much the same as the turkey, aside from a few textural differences. Maybe you could point that out when the picking begins. I don't really have a lot of cheeky comebacks. Most times I just shrug and give them Mona Lisa smile, or I will say something smartass like, " Prepare to be assimilated " . Guest guest
Probably the most light-hearted response: " I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants. " ---A Whitney Brown Less light-hearted: " Animals are my friends--and I don't eat my friends. " ---George Bernard Shaw Or possibly: " He is a heavy eater of beef. Me thinks it doth harm to his wit. " --- Shakespeare (Twelfth Night) Or some quick facts: Vegetarians have the lowest rate of coronary disease of any other group in the country. Vegetarians have only 40% of the " normal " cancer rate. Or if you are really just fed up: " It's my body, leave me alone! " Good luck. My family teases me mercilessly, but I know it comes from a place of love---so I just smile and bask in it! -george , Beth Skeen <boomothergoose> wrote: > > Ok guys. > > Its that wonderful time of year where the wonderful family gets together and I always end up being the butt of many jokes for my choice of lifestyle and eating habits.
