From Canidia Strega : " I'm the only veggie in our family of 5 Dinner is suc=

h a

nightmare sometimes. Any advice? "

Sure. Never ask me for advice, or you'll get an earful; and that's my best =

advice to anyone. *lol* Let's see, here are a few things I do around here t=

o

make my lifestyle fit in more effortlessly. If I am making a casserole with=

meat in it for the others, I simply scoop out my portion before adding the =

meat, and bake it separately in one of those cute little mini bread loaf pa=

ns.

Works great. Also, my family has adjusted to the fact that ground beef no =

longer means we eat a cow; I always use Yves brand ground round in recipes =

that call for ground beef OR MSF crumblies. I keep plenty of meat-free

substitute convenience foods on hand as well, like MSF chick patties, Boca =

grillers and sausage, MSF meatballs for our bi-weekly spaghetti dinner, etc=

..

Soups are another nice thing to fix where they don't miss the meat, or meat=

can be added to their portion after removing mine. Providing a more hearty=

veggie-style side dish to their meat entree makes it so I can eat that as m=

y

main course, and they just eat a bit as a go-along with their food. The lis=

t

goes on. I hope this gives you some ideas, and that the recipes I put here =

help you some. Good luck!

FromÊ " MatriXeno . " : " mmmmmm..How bout some " papas con juevos "

topped with salsa and velveeta bundled in a tortilla. I use to eat this all=

the

time. "

I am limited on my espangnol (sp), so could you tell me what " papas " are,

Shawn? Sounds like it might be good, but I think I personally would pass on=

the velveeta and use some other real cheese. ;-)

" Hi P_T, I belong to a chili group called chilitalk with a few hardcore

Texans.... I put in a request but so far no luck. I'll keep checking the g=

roup

for other posts. "

Wow, that is wonderful. Thank you so much, Shawn. With a group like that I =

would imagine I might get several to try. Mixing up a few and having a tast=

e

testing party might be fun, too. *s*

" The celebration that you are going to sounds very honorable and brings

back some culture that this country is lacking. Kudos to you all. Do you kn=

ow

what dish you are going to take to your celebration? "

LOL. Thanks, though I am not sure how honorable it is as there is a fair

share of pigging out going on, but it is very fun. The people who host the =

gathering live way up on a mountain in the middle of the woods; so pretty. =

I

usually opt to bring a huge tossed green salad (lettuce, broccoli, cauliflo=

wer,

spinach, carrots etc). I make up several homemade salad dressings to take

along and, some beans, cheese, croutons, and other things to sprinkle on

top if folks want to. This way I have something there I know I can eat that=

is

safe. Plus eating a lighter entree means I always have room for pumpkin pie=

!

FromÊ " kate. " : " don't worry about looking for fresh chipotles, because the=

y

are dried smoked jalapenos. at least that's my understanding. "

Really? Way cool! Finding these should be a snap then around here. They

have a nice selection of dried packaged mexican foods in every grocery stor=

e

around. I just never knew how to use them, or anything. This will be fun.

Thanks, Kate.

FromÊJanice White: " Not everyone who keeps their dogs outside are bad. We

have 3 beagles and they are all outside dogs. "

You are so right, Janice, and by the sounds of your post, they are well car=

ed

for and loved. I guess being reincarnated as one of your dogs would actuall=

y

be livin' high. *lol* Cheers! :::coffeemug salute:::

Hey Allison, you answered my question to Shawn. Papas are potatoes then,

right? And, also about the chipotles, I will certainly look for the canned=

ones

to try in this BBQ sauce recipe since they sound so much yummier than just =

dried. Also, thank you so much for the site list of Thanksgiving ideas. I a=

m

going to have fun wading through those with my daughter.

Yes they are. When I posted that I love papas con

chiles with my heuvos rancheros, it meant that I love

potatoes pan fried with chili peppers (and onion, a

little tomato and some cilantro)...Mmmm.

Also, thank you so much for the site list of

You're very welcome. I'm just going to take a few

dishes along to Mother's for Thanksgiving so I know

I'll be able to eat more than just green beans, mashed

potatoes and rolls;)

Warmly,

Allison
