Guest guest
My cable company finally adopted the Food Network. Do you all know how long I have been waiting to see this channel. Well ok, only a few years, but still. I love cooking shows. I think I will be addicted to this channel. Uh Oh, I see a couch potato in my future, I wonder if I will be scalloped. Anyone have any favorite shows from this Network? Also can anyone recommend any good Veg lifestyle magazines out there? I've prolly seen all the Veg cooking mags. Haha, Yao Ming is in town...Go Rockets! Cheers, Shawn. " If, at first, you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment. " _______________ Unlimited Internet access for only $21.95/month. Guest guest
All of the shows are great. I like the Iron Chef for pure entertainment...But not exactly for the menus:) Have you ever seen " Regina's Vegetarian Table " on PBS? Warmly, Allison --- " MatriXeno . Once she showed a really pretty salad dish her vegetarian daughter once served her. Oh, I also like Malto Mario; I think he is cute and damn, can he cook! Nothing cuter than a portly chef who sports a ponytail, knows what he is doing with a knife and looks like he enjoys his own cooking. *lol* I am a fan of Vegetarian Times magazine, but from your comment I bet you already read it and found it wanting. Guest guest
Hola P_T, yupper The Veg Times is great. I like " Food 911 " , he made this great potato, leek, onion, mushroom dish. I am not a big fan of Emeril. I too like the Martha Stewart show. Hmm au gratin or scalloped, I sure am good, LOL. Take care, Shawn. " If, at first, you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment. Guest guest
Hi Allison, I'll have to check out that show on PBS. I am surprised I am not aware of a cooking show on TV. Thanks for the information. Cheers, Shawn. " If, at first, you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment. Guest guest
Wow, is there anyone who likes Emeril's show? I don't like it either so it's funny that so many here have the same feeling. I am absolutely ADDICTED to the food network. I love The Best Of, Food911, Good Eats, Iron Chef (so cheesy Hong-Kong movie-like ya gotta love it), and Calling All Cooks. Cooking Thin is a new show that while not strictly vegetarian, does have a majority of vegetarian dishes and all the food is healthy. I also like Two Fat Ladies--even though the chances of a vegetarian finding something edible out of the food they make is practically zilch. It's just so funny to me so see them start every recipe with a pound of butter or lard or bacon fat. But that's the show: they are indeed fat. I get humor out of how atrociously artery-clogging their recipes are. Off topic note: I really enjoy old, antique cookbooks. I get a kick out of the fat content, weird outmoded ingredients, and kitschy covers. I've also found that if you have been veggie awhile and are adept at substitution they are a treasure-trove of unique recipes. Old regional cookbooks are especially great for this, particularly if you are interested in early American or cuisine that is regional to areas of the U.S. It seems a shame to me that so many wonderful recipes just seem to get lost in time, and it's so much fun trying them out and updating them. Does anyone else share this foodie obsession? MatriXeno . [matrixeno] Wednesday, October 23, 2002 7:45 PM Re: Re: Uh Oh! Hola P_T, yupper The Veg Times is great. You see what I've had to work with... He's really come a long ways and shown surprising flexibility, but what a starting point. Yikes. It helps that he instantly fell in love with anything Mexican-style, or Tex-Mex. >Off topic note: I really enjoy old, antique cookbooks. Guest guest
Poor poor Emerill and his " BAM! " . I am surprised foodtv doesnt have a vegetarian show. They 24 hours of shows, you would think they could devote one show to that lifestyle. Oh well, luckily there is such things as creativity and substitutions. I bet you see alot of listings for Crisco or lard in those antique cookbooks. Cheers, Shawn. " If, at first, you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment. Oh well, luckily there is such things as >creativity and substitutions. PBS has had several vegetarian cooking shows through the years. Molly Katzen, for one. We still see her programs occasionally but I don't know whether they're current or reruns. There used to be a vegetarian cooking show on Food-TV, maybe it's still there (we don't get Food-TV now). It was on in the mornings (I used to watch it when I was treadmilling). It's a young African-American man, I can't remember his name. Pat -- Pat Meadows Books, books! Low prices.
