Guest guest
This is one of those snack recipes that is nice to have onhand during the holidays when people might drop by on short notice. You can mix the spread up days ahead and keep it in the fridge until you need it. Then just spread the bread slices and pop it in the oven. Garnish it creatively with sliced green olives or sprigs of fresh parsley. Wonderful with a glass of wine and some fresh fruit. Savory Rye Snacks 1 cup sliced green onions 1 cup mayonaise 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 can (4 oz) mushroom stems and pieces, drained 1/2 cup chopped ripe olives 1/2 cup chopped stuffed olives 1 loaf ( 1 lb) cocktail rye bread In a bowl, combine the green onions, mayo, chesses, mushrooms and olives. Spread on bread slices and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes, or until bubbly. Yield: about 4 dozen ~ P_T ~
