Fire Ants

It is true that fire ants are lethal. In South Texas where my Dad

had farmed, he once got them nearly all over him. They were up his

pants, and he had to take off most of his clothes just to get them

off. After that he bought a powdered poison to sprinkle around

their ground holes on his farm. People who are not otherwise allergic

to insects can have reactions to fire ants. Their bite leaves a puss

pocket. If it gets broken a hole is left in your skin.

Their bits can leave scars, and if enough get you there may be a

fever. Fire ants are bad news and a menace. They are an aggessive,

unfriendly insect without any known redeeming value. I have had them

all over my legs just walking through grassy areas.

Yes, and I'll add that they're also feral. They come

from either South America or Mexico...I believe South

America. They traveled here by cargo and have no

known enemies. They kill livestock, deer, pets, etc.

Fire ants do have few, very few, good qualities. They eat aphids and other

critters, our local winery acutally likes them as it reduces damage to the

fruit. If you have house plants with critters on them, you can sit your plant

out by a fire ant nest and the offending critters will be removed... so long as

they don't infest your pot. There are very few ticks around here as the ants

eat them, and scorpions. But, they also eat the Texas Horned Toad, our state

frog... baby birds, kittens, deer... The plastic coating off of electric wire

causing house fires, get into water utilitiy access holes... basically, while

they do a few good things, they are a massive pain in the a@#... For those of

you who don't know them, be very very happy. Please don't assume that they are

like other domestic ants are the most violent carnivorous mob predators of the

insect world that I know of...

This is accurate. Fire ants are synonymous with mob violence.

They want blood. They are not from South America. They are from

outer space. They are not native to Earth.

So far I have not seen any of these demons in Indiana. Just in

Texas.

from another universe entirely??
