Guest guest
Jackie I found your story about your animals that you had thru your life very interesting. I didn't find it long at all. Like most people, the animals can learn to eat what you are eating, especially dogs. My daughter's dogs that we are caring for while they are away to college actually like almost everything we give them, including, get this, bananas. I'm not joking. Sylvester my cat turns up his royal nose to bananas and walks away where the dogs practically go nuts when they know they are getting food of any sorts. You would think, the way they are acting, that we were starving them to death. Now Squirt, my youngest daughter's cat, that I care for, is as chubby as can be. Oh he eats his cat food and he's gets around really good too. He's so comical. When he runs, he actually isn't running, he's more like bouncing. LOL It's amazing for being a chubby little guy that he can get around like he does. He sure can move. I heard that too Kris about cats needing meat but I have also read that cats can do without it too and learn to eat healthy without the meat. I actually read a book about a lion who back in the '60's was rescued from his terrible mother when he was a baby. The mother lion was very abusive and just wouldn't let her 2 babies eat. Well one died so the care takers decided to rescue the other one. This couple took them in and nursed the little one back to health. One of the things that they were very concerned about was the meat eating cause this lion hated meat. They tried everything to train it to eat meat cause they thought that she needed it. They became very concerned over it and wrote to one of the experts about this situation. The expert wrote back and told them to read in their bibles in Genesis about the animals when they were created how they ate grass and not the other animals. Well that eased their minds and didn't worry about it anymore. And that lion ate nothing but vegetarian foods and lived to be a ripe old big cat. I wish I could remember the name of the book but I don't have it cause my dear daughters has the book. Just so you know that is based on a true story cause that big cat was featured in some movies. It isn't a fairy tale even tho one would wonder. One time that big cat was suppose to lick this little baby chick during a movie segment or something like that, well this big cat licked the little chick and the fuzz stuck to the cats tongue. He closed his mouth and didn't know what to do with it. The owners wondered at first what happened to the chick. They told the big cat to open it's mouth and there was the chick still alive inside the mouth. It was so funny cause they were saying that the lion just didn't know what to do with this little tiny thing in it's mouth. It is such an adorable book for all ages and animal lovers. Oh P_T that's so funny about your sister's cat. LOL Oh the pain that we owners have to go thru just to train the kitties not to eat so much. Well because Squirt is mainly an outdoor cat, we just leave food out for him for whenever he wants it, especially during the winter time. We want him to feel nice and warm. Of course if I'm home then he is allowed to come in the house. He's a good little mouser tho. GRRRRRR Just as long as he leaves the birds alone then I'm happy. HI Bruce. Welcome aboard here.
