Guest guest
Hi Melinda. Welcome. I too am fairly new with only about a week here so far. It is nice here, calm and relaxed, and sometimes funny, and it is informative. Check out my posting for corn tortillas. They go real well with re-fried beans, shredded lettuce, and tomato. Corn tortillas can also be bought ready made. Toast up the tortilla in the oven and then add the rest. This is a chalupa for those who would not know. Tostada is another word for the same. About vitamins. I take a one a day kind to help insure I get the RDA of 400 micrograms of folic acid and the rest. But otherwise my concentration is on the phytonutrients: bioflavinoids, flavoinoids, carotenes, reserverol, and all the rest; and my emphysis is also on anti-oxidants, of which C, selenium, and beta-carotene are only a few. I do not go to alot of trouble with vitamin supplements, but I do with the phytonutrients which are found mostly (if not exclusively) in food. I sometimes take 400 mg. of E divided into two 200 mg., one in AM and one at night. It is the phytonutrients that I try to get a good mix of from food since they help prevent cancers. I also go for potassium and magnesium rich foods as they help control blood pressure (supposed to anyway). I also go for lypocene (cooked tomatos). I also like almonds, especially with chocolate. Almonds are rich in fiber. I sometimes add wheat germ to cereal. Vitamins supplements are OK, but my doctor said to go conservative with the fat soluble ones. I do not go over 400 mg. a day of E. I wonder why more do not concentrate on the minerals and phytonutrients in food? Bruce in N.W. Indiana , " Melinda " <clicker@i...> wrote: > Hi All - > > I'm happy to see some familiar faces here. Guest guest
Hi Bruce! Thanks for the warm welcome and the same to you. I did check out your recipe for corn tortillas -- looks great -- but I'm unable to handle corn, unfortunately. Got a recipe for whole wheat tortillas?
