Guest guest
This is a prime example of scare tactics and myth. If no facts are known, what is there to say? Find the facts, report them, and move on. That vets recommend vegetarian cat food demonstrates it's a perfectly healthy alternative. That companies making veggie cat food aren't sued for pet deaths right and left shows their products are safe and nutritious. What would this magical substance, or chemical, be that can be found only in meat and not synthesized or found elsewhere and added to veggie cat food? It reminds me of the folks who assure you you'll die if you don't eat meat. That you'll feel weak and be scawny and undernourished. That you'll go blind if you masturbate -- oh, wait, how did that get in there? Guest guest
Actually, the magical chemical is called an amino acid, one of the required building blocks of protiens. I am quite sure that it is found in limited supply in plant material, but from what I understand, cats can not make this amino acid on their own and so require it in their diet. If they do not have it, they WILL die. This is not hype, this is science. Ask your vet. And, if you would like more information, look here: http://www.felinefuture.com/fact/nutrition/taurine.html I found it on a google search.
