Guest guest
I asked PT if I could post this and she said it was cool. It is below this short message. IF there is anyone who cares about the food they eat it is a vegetarian, and those who are trying to be one. Nowadays there are genetically engineered foods routinely appearing on grocery store shelves, in farmers markets, and other places where food is sold. There is no requirement the manufacturer state on the package the food is genetically engineered, nor does the grower have to state this, nor the retailer or wholeseller of the food. Is all the GE food safe to eat? No one may be able to get meat off the shelves and off the property, but it seems reasonable to know whether the green beans were genetically engineered or not. Ditto the whole wheat bread, dry beans, soy flour, oatmeal, etc. Is the genetically engineered food safe to eat? This upcoming week would only require we e-mail a pre-written message, or e-mail our own, or telephone, or handwrite a Postal Service letter letting our grocery store managers and owners, the food manufacturers, and produce markets know we want to know how much of the food has been genetically engineered and to state this on the labels or somewhere else so we can see. Is this so much to ask? I am not advocating any particular organization, just the disclosure of what foods have been GE. Bruce in N.W. Join us in building the pressure! Make your first call TODAY! Below are a list of phone numbers for supermarkets. If your supermarket is not listed, you can call the toll- free directory (1-800-555-1212) for the 1-800 number for the store in your area. Or look them up in the phone book. What can you say? 1.GE foods are risky and untested and should not be in the food supply. 2.Supermarkets in Europe stopped their use of GE food ingredients in their store brand products. Now Trader Joe's,Whole Foods and Wild Oats have done the same. Mainstream markets in the US can also stop their use of GE food. 3.Since the government won't protect consumers from GE food, supermarkets must act and respond to what consumers want- which is an end to the genetic experiment with our food. 4.Ask them to send you a letter in response to your demand that the supermarket remove GE food from their store brand products. The most important thing is that you call and speak from your heart. Why are you concerned about GE food? Let them know. Also let them know that you will be calling until they do the right thing.
