Mark and Helena,

I wanted to thank you two for responding to my question about soaking and

sprouting/splitting black rice. I think I must have had a really olold batch.

Black Rice can be very tempermental at times, I've found. There have been times

when it would split open just after having soaked over night but 7 days, no way.

Nothing takes that long to sprout/split.

Sprouting anything can be challenging at times. One should really be careful as

sprouting can produce a gas and fungus. Rinsing regularly and thoroughly is very

important. Just the other day Ron and I read an article that mentioned someone

was poisoned after consuming some sprouts. At any rate, I still contend that on

one's sprouts are more fresh or taste better than the sprouts from my own

kitchen. They are a highly sought after treat for me especially in the winter.

been soaking this rice for well over a week now!  The only reason I haven't

tossed it yet is that I keep remembering how much is was per pound.  But then

again, Victoria Boutenko told me that in this life, you're sure to toss

something out, make a mess in your kitchen and be WOWed or NOT by your

creations.
