Guest guest
VITAMIN D – AMERICA’S SINGLE, DEADLIEST DEFICIENCYIn an article that appeared in Health News Weekly on December 15, 2008 written by PeytonPosey, and published in the journal Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology, we learnthat 16 doctors and professors have challenged the Food and Nutrition Board’s (FNB)recommendations for the daily allowance of vitamin D: “’The 1997 FNB recommendations offend the most basic principles of pharmacology and toxicology, leading us to conclude that the current official guidelines andlimitations for vitamin D intakes are scientifically indefensible,’ the authors state in the report.“Vitamin D deficiency can result in:• Heart or brain problems• Blood pressure issues• Joint problems• Weak bones• Mood swings or depression• Low blood sugar levels• Fatigue• A weakened immune system• Skin problems“The medical panel also stated, “children with chronic illness’ such as autism, diabetesand/or frequent infections [should take adequate] doses to maintain their vitamin D [levels] inthe mid-normal of reference range (65 ng/ml)- and should be so supplemented year around.”“According to the report, less than 1 percent of American children currently have suchlevels of vitamin D. The panel recommends healthy children take 1,000 IU/daily for every 25pounds of body weight.“Nine out of 10 Americans are deficient in vitamin D – the sunshine vitamin. And surprisingly even people that spend plenty of time in the sun can still lack this vital inflammation fighter. “This is dangerous because inflammation is a major cause of heart and brain problems. . ..high blood pressure…joint pain…bone loss… digestive problems…blood sugar imbalances and a host of other serious health problems [including cancer.] “But the good news is: You can quickly restore healthy levels of vitamin D with vitamin D3 and even help many of your most dangerous health problems.” Remain Focused and Good Health to You Elaine
