Guest guest Posted October 10, 2008 Report Share Posted October 10, 2008 Greetings all, I would like to annouce that nonprofit was very fortunate enough to obtain a grant through DC DOH to continue our growth with the co-op in ward 7 and 8. Well the process is just getting started and we have a few things that we are requesting some help from our community members on. Healthy Solutions (DC Produce Co-op) as seeking applicants for: 1) Community Co-op Coordinators -2 positions- this is a stipend position very part time that would assist us with various co-op task- help with training of youth, help with supervision of youth workers, assist with setting up appointments for various schools daycare centers and community locations for youth to go out and present information about the co-op. They will also help with community surveys and sending out co-op material as well as assisting co-op members with questions and concerns. There will be a requirement to have your own reliable mode of transportation. There will be ongoing training and any training available to youth (as well as on farm trainings by local farms) will also be open for coordinators to attend) 2) Youth Workers- 4 positions available- Youth ages 15- 18 (also considering ages up to 25). This is also a stipend position for youth. This is a one year training project that will train youth on aspects of how the co-op functions and works. They will be learning about the process of how food is grown, inspected and getting it to and for co-op consumption. Youth will also be responsible to presenting information to different community location such as day care centers and elementary schools in ward 7 and 8. They will also be conducting community surveys and various community locations. There will be training using the USDA handbooks as well as on farm visits to various farms locally. This is a very important role for the co-op, we want to be able to teach our youth not only how the co-op functions but give them so very core Entrepreneurial experience and training as well. We also seek youth who have parent/ guardian involvement through this process.
