Harvesting Fall/Winter Crops

Greetings:

For those who have grown fall and winter veggies, is it ok to pick the lower leaves from collards, broccoli, cauliflower and chinese cabbage before the center matures? We don't intend to pick the leaves that will provide protection to the heads but we just don't want the few pests that we have to eat what we could be eating.

On the other hand, can anyone suggest a safe pesticide? This is the first large garden we've ever grown. In previous years we grew in pots. We would appreciate your help.

Here is a natural pesticide . In the blender Add : 7 Hot peppers, Dish detergent, 1/2 cup Cider vinegar and 1/2 cup water.

Blend Peppers , water and vinegar in blender

strain Mixture

Place in a spray bottle

Add liquid Soap

Spray the leaves of the vegetables if needed

It has been my experience that my greens need no pesticides in the fall and winter

In the Spring the cabbage seems to need a spraying

Also love all the creatures of the Earth . Share some leaves .

After all we are in their Living room

Only spray when needed. You will see nibbles on the leaves

Once you spray once with my solution the bugs ill leave your plants
