Hello everyone,

I am a young professional looking to fully transition to a raw lifestyle. How

do you afford to

buy quality organic produce? Where are the best places to shop? I find myself

shopping

many times a week and I'm just not sure if this is going to be sustainable

financially and from

a scheduling perspective.

Thanks!

Greetings and Congratulations...

....on your decision to transition to a raw lifestyle. I, too, just recently transitioned (mid-March) to a raw food lifestyle. My initial response would be to join a food coop. I am member of a food coop in Washington, D.C., and 99% of time, no other market or grocery store has cheaper prices for great quality organic produce . IF you cannot find a local coop to join, I recommend farmers markets and/small produce markets. You will be supporting local farmers and those mom and pop shops, which I believe is a part of living a raw foods diet.

There is a myth that eating only raw foods is expensive. Although food prices are a bit high, you will no longer purchase certain items any longer such as pasta, bread, rice, chips, etc... The bulk of your purchases will be fresh produce, nuts, seeds, etc. I find that it's actually CHEAPER to live as a raw vegan that anything else. Yes, olives are expensive, and yes organic produce is expensive. But if you look at the whole picture/budget, you actually come out ahead health-wise and financially.

I hope this helps.

Love and Light,

Amaadi

Greetings:

Before I respond my first question is geographically, where to you reside?
