Peace and Love Family I was reading this article in the recent VegNews Magazine and its funny how some authors speak directly to my thoughts, realizing we are all connected: "As I continued my way down30thAve, I saw a butcher standing in front of his shop chatting amiably with passersby, his white frock stained deep red with blood. Essentially, nobody notices the crimson splatter and those who do, well, they don't even flinch. Behind the butcher, sheep carcasses hang from large hooks in the window - their bulging, lifeless eyes seemed to stare accusingly at the butcher's back. He didn't appear to notice. Essentially, nobody notices, and those who do, well, they don't even flinch. The next block brought me in contact with the fish market. Wet cardboard boxes filled with marine corpses piled in front - the street smelled like death. Beyond the stench, essentially, nobody notices, and those who do, well, they don't even flinch. Looking into the fish store window, I saw a tiny aquarium tank. At least as dozen doomed lobsters were piled atop one another - their claws taped. Essentially, nobody notices, and those who do, well, they don't even flinch. My thoughts are based on what happens on my day to day adventures at The Yabba Pot. Such a wide variety of patrons come through the door. Not a day goes by where a "newby" doesn't come in curious about what's goin' on in here. Most folks have heard something from a friend. Many are referred by their doctors. And still many seek out on their own looking for a place that accommodates their needs, hoping The Yabba Pot fulfills it. The folks that come in that are just plain curious about this "thing" are the ones that always seem to tickle me the most. Somebody told Someone that we are a Jamaican restaurant and you can get good Oxtail here. When they walk in to find Creole Tofu and Queen Greens they are completely distressed and run out as if there was a police outside writing tickets. The nerve of us trying to fake a Jamaican restaurant, with all those colors and that reggae music. I know Somebody is gonna get a call from Someone telling them that "They aint got no meat in there! They only sell vegetables! You trying to give me a heart attack or something. Let me find out!" Bless there heart, for real! Then there are the "I want to change my lifers", who have to taste everything on the menu (holding up the line) before they order. The food can't possibly be good, "It's Vegetarian!" for crying out loud. There must be something strange going on here. My face as straight as a board, laughing inside, when they succumb to their tasting frenzy, give up and order just about everything they tried. Possibly wondering why they went through that whole ordeal. "But who ever heard of "Carrot Tuna"? And why if this is a vegetarian place do they call their meatless dishes with meat names." Uhhh, well like Oprah says, "That's a whole other show." So here we are constantly trying to elevate a small shop half way down the block onSt Paul St, here in the heart ofBeirut- I meanBaltimore. Constantly trying to elevate a crowd that has their own opinion of Life and who am I to say they are wrong. One thing I do know is that Real Chicken Legs are much cheaper than the "Chik-Un' Legs we use. I just saw a sale at Safeway and I said to myself, if only they knew, and some do, but they don't even flinch. Dinner Lecture Series TWO LECTURES THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE! And that means it's time to cleanse again. Well, the 21 Day Raw Food Challenge is gonna try something new this time. Statistics show that after the first week about 50% of the population drop off. This shows us that committing to 21 Days of eating raw is, can we say, quite the challenge. So we have deicided to merge with Brother Khepra from the Mojo Juice Club in DC. We will be having, instead of the 21 Day Raw Food Challlenge, a 7 Day Challenge and Juice Feast with Morning Yoga Intensive! This program is designed to help you attain a higher level of health. The first day we feast on delicatable live cuisine for our orientation. From the next day the routine is daily morning yoga and fresh live juices. There is no better way to heal your body. We are all our own doctors and have to take responsibility through proper diet, exercise with periodic fasting, and this program accomplishes all of those objectives. We complete the program on the following Saturday the way we started, with a live food feast! Most participants feel (depends on your level of toxicity);· Increased Physical Energy· Deeper Quality Sleep· Greater Mental Clarity· Joint Pain Eliminated· Lighter, Physically & Spiritually· Heightened Spiritual Awareness Whether you are new to live foods and fasting or a veteran looking to maintain your health, this program can benefit anyone. We will do all the work preparing all the food and juices for the week in addition to having daily morning yoga class to assist in movement and healing your body. Don't do this alone if you don't have to! It's much more fun (and easier) when working in a group and our experienced staff will be on-call 24/7 to do whatever it will take to see that you will succeed.
