Guest guest
greetings Dominique & raw family, Dominique and anyone else, please do not mistake my intent of energies within my words. What I speak to specifically is the intent of greed and embellishing oneself at the expense of another person. Especially when both parties are allegedly conscious and with awareness. I cannot support the usury and hegemony of human beings by other human beings. The vex of capitalism has become a scourge in the vision and internal conversation of many people that I have been witnessing. This observation is directed to no one person in particular. I feel to say this because I know that I am not the only person that sees through the illusions of ones pro-motions. If a person can afford to pay whatever the fee that someone is charging for a retreat-styled trip, then by all means manifest it. I do not speak to poverty in this event. Where are the extra monies going specifically? To who(m) and by way of who(m)? That is what I am indicating here? Stroking oneself into the field of marginal advantage to what end? All of this profiteering abounding, yet we have no bona fide Raw Food venue {100% Live} at this moment. . . OR even a Live Juice Bar no where in this entire region of the mid-Atlantic! Where are the funds at for raw-food mentorships/internships with school children {K-12th} in the arena of Culinary Arts? I feel like we are getting played like a harmonica, in and out we go through so many events. We give up the greenbacks, get our sails filled while we are in the midst of the organizers & participants only to be reminded after the fact of returning for a check up later down the line. I do not intend critique of any ones operation(s) that builds it up for the people to come and genuinely adds value to those that support this person(s) too. Dominique, I have been to Jamaica as well. I gave a brother there 10 US in westmoreland parish for fresh fruit and he gave me a whole plastic bag of all-island-grown tree fruit and a choice large water coconut. I feel your message. I am simply saying that the comparison with atlanta (where I've been also in several instances) raw venues is inequitable. The rate of exchange was 67 to 1 for J converting to $ when I was there earlier this year. In many areas on the island the food is either entirely free {wild-harvested} or very inexpensive, especially in eating/drinking all raw foods. I was unaware, at those moments, that any cooked food was being offered and served to the retreat participants. Yet, this does not surprise me. I do know precisely how pervasive the numbing sensations of a cooked palate can seem to be. My intentions overall are not negation, but being more inclusive of information for those whom have yet to visit these places. When in Jamaica, I humbly suggest avoiding Mobay, Ocho Rios, Downtown Kingston, Negril, and the fringe commercial districts. The spots to check out are Jackie's On The Reef, Treasure Beach {just past the Black River}, Trelawny, Bull Bay, Nine Mile, Port Antonio {before it gets further commercialized} and Blue Mountain of course to name a few. The caves, black-sand beaches, hot mineral springs, waterfalls & tropical forests are widely dispersed over the island. Remember it is 85% mountainous too!
