Reminder: Co-op in Collage Park, Md information gathering

Greetings all,

I am sending out a reminder that Monday (October 8th) I will

be in College Park to inform interested persons about

expanding the co-op there. So if you have a burning

question about the co-op, now's the time to come out

and ask.

The DC Co op is a cooperative created to offer the

public fresh fruits and vegetables at better prices

and quality than the markets and stores. The weekly

co-operative offers conventional and organic produce.

The DC Produce Co-op is a project of Healthy

Solutions, a non-profit 501© (3) organization

working to enhance the lives of the under-served,

underprivileged, and/or marginalized and to help them

make informed decisions.

Join us to learn how you can participate in this

wonderful program. Avalaura's Healing Center is

pleased to be a pick up site for the Co op every

Friday evening (except 3rd Friday of the month).

Speaker, Tanikka Watford- Cunningham, wife and mother

of 3 children, started the DC co-op in November of

2006. She created the co-op because she recognized

that consumers were being taken advantage of when

purchasing produce in the grocery stores. She used to

own a produce distribution company in North Carolina

where her company was the only black owned produce

distribution contracted to work with the military.

After closing the company and moving to DC, she and

her family had to now shop for produce at the grocery

stores. This fueled her to take action and start a co

op here in the DC area.

Cost: FREE (Love Donations will be accepted)
