11 Items You Don't Have to Buy Organic (the opposite of the dirty dozen)The best way to reap the health benefits of fruits and vegetables without exposing yourself to potentially harmful pesticides is to choose organic produce whenever possible, especially those varieties which are more likely to be contaminated. But if organic produce is cutting into your budget, it's okay to buy non-organic varieties of the fruits and vegetables listed below, which tend to contain the least amount of pesticides. However, make it a habit to wash them thoroughly before eating or cooking, to remove dirt and bacteria. Asparagus Avocados Bananas Broccoli Cabbage Corn (sweet, frozen) Kiwi Mangos Onions Pineapples Peas (sweet, frozen) See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage.

This is a pretty good list Lynda, but I'm not sure about the asparagus and broccoli. If you check after soaking them in water for a few minuets you can see a white residue floating on top. In addition to washing these tender veggies, I'd recommend a "mushroom" brush. They have been found in BB & B (Bed, Bath & Beyond).Again members, be your own judge.Namaska7 wrote: 11 Items You Don't Have to Buy Organic (the opposite of the dirty dozen)The best way to reap the health benefits of fruits and vegetables without exposing yourself to potentially harmful pesticides is to choose organic produce whenever possible, especially those varieties which are more likely to be contaminated.
