Hi Elaine and all,

This response from me may sound strange, particularly coming from me, and given my beliefs about things in general.

If you are staying in a western-style hotel, USUALLY the water is reasonably clean and filtered ... to a point.

Some have suggested grape-seed extract. I have not used this abroad, I cannot comment. But here is another suggestion that may seem idiotic at first ... just pause and consider it, that's all I ask.

Buy Coca Cola and wash your food in that. Why?

1. They DO filter their water, in every country in the world, to some minimum standard.

2. The acids in the "beverage" definitely wipe out many organisms.

3. It does rinse off completely, or at least 98=99%.

4. Anything left over can be used to clean a car battery or the like, no need to waste any! :):)

Greetings:I found this in another support group and thought I should pass it on for discussion. Is there a need for us here in the US, to be concerned about how well just plain water would clean our produce while traveling? There have been times while on travel that we didn't have bottled and maybe only hotel water for cleaning our produce. Please read posts below.Realizing that even in our more (supposedly) controlled environment which is not pristine, should we be concerned with airborne bacteria? Has anyone ever experienced the use of "celery extract" or have thoughts on this? Please read posts below. ElaineExcerpted from Sprout Raw Food

Is there a "proven" way to kill bacteria on food (non-meats) without cooking it? I have the water situation taking care of with the Berkefeld water filter http://www.h2owareh ouse.com/ emergency- water.htm. Also what is effective for killing off bacteria in the gut?Olushola

One way you may consider washing your produce is to bring along Grapefruit Seed Extract. It's a powerful microbe killer. I have also read alot on Apple Cider Vinegar, as both a wash and taken internally. Internally, I wouldn't be as worried and would take more care in using natural antibiotics because you do want your healthy intestinal flora. In that case, I would probably lean more towards taking additional probiotics. If you have a healthy supply of "good" bacteria they will out compete the "bad" bacteria.Another thing to consider would be to consult with a really good classical homeopath for possible remedies to have on hand in that part of the world.Have a great trip!Renee<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]-->
