I am getting one of these for water treatment when I go backpacking:http://www.rei.com/product/750366--ScottDon't under estimate the wisdom of nature. If man made it, don't eat it.www.POISONINGaNATION.com--- shortydemp wrote:"E. Is there a need for us here in the US, to be concerned about how well just plain water would clean our produce while traveling? There have been times while on travel that we didn't have bottled and maybe only hotel water for cleaning our produce. Please read posts below.Realizing that even in our more (supposedly) controlled environment which is not pristine, should we be concerned with airborne bacteria? Has anyone ever experienced the use of "celery extract" or have thoughts on this? Please read posts below.ElaineExcerpted from Sprout Raw Food On 9/20/07 Olushola wrote: In about 3 months I'm leaving for Africa and will be there for about a year. I'm very concerned about eating raw because of bacteria. Is there a "proven" way to kill bacteria on food (non-meats) without cooking it? I have the water situation taking care of with the Berkefeld water filter http://www.h2owareh ouse.com/ emergency- water.htm. Also what is effective for killing off bacteria in the gut? I have also read alot on Apple Cider Vinegar, as both a wash and taken internally. Internally, I wouldn't be as worried and would take more care in using natural antibiotics because you do want your healthy intestinal flora. In that case, I would probably lean more towards taking additional probiotics. If you have a healthy supply of "good" bacteria they will out compete the "bad" bacteria. Another thing to consider would be to consultwith a really good classical homeopath for possible remedies to have on hand in that part of the world. Have a great trip! I used Grapefruit seed Extract when I went to Africa. I used it daily ; in fact twice a day. I did not take the shots. Instead I used the extract weeks before traveling and all during my stay. Since the weather is changing ; I will begin using it now to keep my body strong .
