Guest guest
I am a raw vegan wanna-be! I'm married to a vegetarian of ten years, and gave up what little flesh I did consume over 18 months ago. This was not a hardship at all. In March 2006, I read an article that set me on the path to raw living, but much to my own disappointment, I can't seem to get it right! One of my main obstacles is creative options that my whole family will embrace. Seeming to lack the time, resources and flair for raw meals that even my seriously picky children will eat, we eat -- not a SAD diet, per se -- but not anywhere near my goal of even mostly raw. I fast from time to time...mostly once I start feeling blah and know I need to give my system a break. I love the feeling. Several months ago, I did a three day fast. I was hungry the first day, felt great the second day and wishing I didn't have to eat by the third. (Come to think of it, I need to do this again...). I've also done a water fast. My most recent dietary 'event' was a five day raw fast. I enjoyed the feeling, but became bored with my meal choices. I found this extremely ironic as much as I love fresh vegetables, fruit, and nuts... At the time that my new path showed itself, I declared, "I'm not willing to die over food.". I meant it and need to somehow get over the hurdles that keep me (and mine) from optimal health. That's where I am and, essentially, how I got here. Next time around, I hope to have a story about successful raw living. By the way, I must say that I live in Indiana, not the D.C. area. I was part of the RawSchool group, but changed my status and found this group. I was very excited to see . :-) I enjoy the shared information and the sometimes lively debate. In closing, I have found that this journey is very individual, even though it'd be great to have a one-size-fits-all method to changing our lives for the better. This 'solo status' realization has seemed to come through quite loudly. Even in that each of us has different...everything (needs, methods, outcomes), we can still come together and support each other in the effort. I'm glad to be here and thanks for listening!
