If you're curious about how much to use, my answer is "some". Sorry, I just throw in a handful or two of salt and then a splash or spritz of vinegar.

Tara, isn't there a little place at the top where you can put in detergent, softener, etc? If so, then just put the vinegar into the softener compartment.
