Hi Nancy and all,

I'm not nitpicking ... you've prompted me to comment on something I overlooked in my earlier posts in response to the same message. You write:

___

2. No need for any cooked food, unless you are REALLY cleansing hard and want to slow it down so it's not so hard on you and the baby

___

This notion of slowing down the cleansing process is widely held ... and equally misunderstood. I suggest a paradigm shift ... literally, I suggest that everyone adopt a new belief ... that your system will never attempt more than it ... YOU ... can handle. And if you have a baby, then by extension of our innate intelligence, the same applies.

Biologically, the best course is always to let the body run itself -- to trust in Nature's design. Whenever we contemplate slowing down the cleansing, what we are really saying is that we wish not to put up with what we are experiencing. We wish to intervene in Nature's process, Nature's design.

For clarity, I do not mean to say that any choice is "right", "wrong", "good", "bad", nothing of the kind. Rather, I mean to give us all cause to pause and reflect ... what do we really value most? Health as soon as possible? To get through the moment or the day? To minimize short-term discomfort, even if it means longer-term discomfort?

There is no correct answer, but it's helpful to realize that before us lies a continuum of possible choices. Particularly when a baby is involved, I suggest that we all think long and hard before we choose to slow down Nature's process for the benefit of our own convenience.

Best to all,

Elchanan

All-

This is my Quick in general response - please don't nit pick, I'm just trying to help

1, If we are eating enough calories from fruits and vegetables then as a general rule we are getting enough protein.

However, during transitioning our digestive system takes time to adapt and since you are nursing you will want more protein & healthy fats than when not. Avocado (no more than 1/2 of one a day ) Nuts and Seeds are delicious but we don't need much - like 1/2 cup a day for you.

2. No need for any cooked food, unless you are REALLY cleansing hard and want to slow it down so it's not so hard on you and the baby.

3. Food combining can still be an issue especially if digestion is weak. Do Eat melons alone.

4. Fruit cut up and veggies cut up. I've bought little food and various shaped cutters which make it fun to cut up the food with and the kids think its cute.

Hummus on veggies, Nut butters on celery with raisins. Smoothies. I would design salads so they look like different facial expressions....

Hope that is helpful.

Nancy

Greetings:I am new to the group and have been on the side lines reading the various stories, responses, and conversations being exchanged. I am a mother of two small children and married to a wonderful person. I have decided to dramatically increase our raw food intake on a daily basis. As a result, as some of you are aware, the mucus is flowing, skin erruptions are happening, and slight mood swings are occurring. I do understand that these "side effects" are blessings and the manifestation of our health improving. In application, we as a family are new to the raw food concept, so I have a few questions. 1. We eat various nuts, seeds, and avocadoes for protein. How do I know when we've overloaded on the protein?2. Is it accurate to say that because I'm a nursing mother, I should consume at least one cooked/warm meal a day?3. Is it correct to think that because most of what we eat is raw that food combinations do not matter?4. What are some simple child-friendly snacks that we can prepare? Thanks.Amaadi

If ones response to the maximum level of cleansing is to revert back, then a slower pace may be more advantageous.. what we may be able to physically handle, we may not be able or at a point to mentally/spiritually handle... So if the process is leading to better health, that's wonderful.. We can also go straight to a water fast, or an air fast.. and after we do 20 days on water we decide, that's enough of that level of cleansing, I'll go back to eating my raw food diet, or to juices, would we also be doing the same thing, by that criteria, slowing down natures process?.. What lies between, what's best, what works, and what's appropriate is choice.. We can say no way is wrong, although when we paint a picture of ways other than ours as being not intelligent, then we are saying wrong, except using other words to say it.. IMHO

Hi Mark,

I appreciate the spirit of your comments, focusing upon choice, and I believe I've done that. Apparently you feel otherwise, and I appreciate the opportunity you are creating for me to revisit what I said and how I said it.

Were there not a tiny child involved, I might have written a bit more softly. But there IS a tiny child involved, a child who cannot choose for him/herself. This, to me, is an entirely different matter.

Also, when I speak of Nature's design/process, I am (hopefully obviously) discussing one's ongoing program. This has nothing to do with any form of fasting. That is a distinct topic (and one worthy of discussion, of course).

Thanks again,

Elchanan
