Guest guest
Nuts, seeds, and avocados all average well over 70% of their calories from fats, varying somewhat from one variety to another. How these foods became labeled as high-protein foods escapes me. Though the mainstream will NEVER admit it, protein poisoning is one of the primary causes of disease in Western civilizations. This is so much the case that, amidst all the tens of thousands of diagnostic codes available to doctors of every conceivable type and specialty, there is NO diagnostic code for a systemic protein deficiency. (Yes, I know about Kwashiorkor, but that is starvation, not a protein deficiency, if you read the symptomology. And the first treatment is to feed carbohydrate, NOT protein. Why? Because a body that has no energy cannot digest protein at all.) Surely, if there were anything at all to sell, someone would have registered it with the FDA by now. Through a different lens, avocados are preferable to nuts and seeds, because they are soft. Nuts and seeds contain very hard, indigestible fiber that rips and tears at the mucoid lining of the human digestive system, from stem to stern (mouth to anus). I have worked with numerous people who complained of pain and inflammation in the mouth. One of the two common steps I recommend is simply to stop eating all nuts and seeds for a few days. Unless the problem arises from overconsumption of acids, works like a charm!!! Best, Elchanan On Behalf Of mama_amaadi Tuesday, September 11, 2007 9:15 AM Baltimore Family New to Raw Foodism 1. We eat various nuts, seeds, and avocadoes for protein. How do I know when we've overloaded on the protein? <<< snip >>> Thanks. Guest guest
Unfortunately, I cannot afford to eat 2300+ calories of fruits and veggies every day. Unless I am only eating coconuts, avocados, and bananas. Thus, I am forced to eat nuts and seeds to get my calories and fill me up. What is the recommended maximum amount of nuts/seeds one should consume per day?--ScottDon't under estimate the wisdom of nature. If man made it, don't eat it.PoisoningANation.com--- Elchanan wrote:"Elchanan" <Elchanan Nuts and Seeds: High-Fat Foods, Not Proteins (WAS: Baltimore Family New to Raw Foodism)Tue, 11 Sep 2007 13:04:11 -0700 Nuts, seeds, and avocados all average well over 70% of their calories from fats, varying somewhat from one variety to another. Guest guest
Hi Ginger, Thanks for asking. My macronutrient data comes from Laurie Masters' new publication, The 80/10/10 Success Guide. 100% of the data presented in that publication comes from the USDA nutrient database, release 19 (current release). The USDA database, for all its many shortcomings, is the worldwide standard for general nutrient data, as I understand it, simply because it's far and away the largest such database.
