This is an extraordinary dentist, in my opinion, one WELL aware of many of the issues involved in modern American dentistry. He performed an exam, told me everything looked great, and asked whether I wanted my teeth cleaned. I must have winced or something, because he then smiled and said, "Oh, you want to keep your tooth enamel." And that, as they say, was that. I am unaware of any toothbrush plant or the like. When we eat healthfully, CHEWING OUR FOOD (i.e., NOT relying heavily upon smoothies), we have great teeth. Caveat: Damage from the past may or may not resolve. For us. It WILL resolve in the next generation or two. Consider the meaning of "polishing", as in "polishing one's teeth". To polish a surface is to wear it down until it is smooth, as in polishing a mirror. Which part of such a practice can possibly be good for our teeth? So brushing here and there sure, if you wish. Using floss at times to remove things from between the teeth, GREAT idea ... because several generations of poor eating have changed the structure of our mouths.
