Hi everyone,

Whenever I write a substantive post outside my home PathOfHealth group, I typically cross-post (XPOST) it there as well. In this instance, Marjorie, a participant in our Path of Health Community, felt inspired to write a most constructive addendum to my original comments. Enjoy!

Best to all,

Elchanan

Elchanan,

Your teachings in this regard are wonderful and I hope for this mom and baby's sake, they are listening!

However, there is one very important issue that I think should be addressed. You mentioned "continual feeding" as a primary component in adequate milk supply. But do women know what that means? In our crazy culture, women are taught to get their babies to sleep in separate quarters at all costs and to try to limit or eliminate night-feedings. In my experience with many, many women, this is one of the main causes of breastfeeding difficulties of all kinds. If her baby is sleeping 8 or 10 or 12 hours in a separate room, it is quite possible the baby is undernourished.

And two smaller related issues are the use of the pacifier and of women delaying or limiting feedings because they are made nervous about nursing in public places.
