Guest guest
I am working out the details for the almond order with two of the growers/farmers in California so that we are within regulation (I wouldn't want to go to prison for shipping illegal almonds across state lines). At the current time, we are looking at 25 pound orders but I am going to try and get smaller boxes for people who don't want to spend that much cash. And we are looking at some time in October during the 2007 almond harvest. So ideally, folks will start getting their cash together so they can purchase 25 or more pounds at a time which is going to be a few hundred boxes (keep in mind, that kind of purchase can last you between 3 and 9 months on average. This should help us get a better cost per box. When I get exact prices and dates, I will give every one advance notice by a few weeks. I am also arranging credit card payments (certified funds, cash and credit will be accepted). Kat Sick sense of humor? Visit TV's Comedy with an Edge to see what's on, when. Guest guest
OK, that sounds pretty good. I think 25lbs is sufficient for most. However, $250 is a lot of money. If you make three trips a year that is potential for 75+ lbs throughout the year.--ScottDon't under estimate the wisdom of nature.--- katdivine87 wrote:katrina wilson <katdivine87 Subject: Re: Fwd: [soFlaVegans] Pasteurized almond rule has some going n...Sat, 28 Jul 2007 11:22:43 -0700 (PDT)I am working out the details for the almond order with two of the growers/farmers in California so that we are within regulation (I wouldn't want to go to prison for shipping illegal almonds across state lines). Guest guest
Scott, that does seem like a lot of almonds, you are right. For myself, I am looking at 8 to 12 pounds a month usage so I could slide by on 100 pounds or so for the year. But one thing I want to mention that I am working on----some of the farmers I have spoken to are not going to keep a bunch of raw almonds around all year to support the raw food folks. The main way they make their money is to sell almonds to stores, wholesalers, etc (and the general public does not care about the pasteurization like we do). So there is a possibility that later in the year, large raw orders just won't be available. But if I order enough to store for people later in the year, then that would have to be factored into the per pound cost to cover storage expenses.
