Guest guest
Greetings Members:It's been a while since I shared my gut opinion about various articles, publications or any of the in your face documentaries presented by the media. Bare with me, this is one that has rattled me for a week now, and I must say something.Recently, there was much hype on the tube about "Shaq's Big Challenge" taking 6 obese kids from fat to fit, ages 11-14, I just had to watch. Needless to say, I wasn't at all surprised, rather saddened because of the children but elated that what's really happening to children today, was placed hopefully, in the face of many children. Hopefully also, they were inspired and paid attention.I intend to stay tuned to see the outcome, which I'm sure that at least 2 of the kids will be successful. But what about the parents? I've been listening and reading but haven't heard anything about any of them being arrested and thrown into jail for nearly killing their children! The 11 year old is not more than a baby and already over 175 pounds! All of the kids are morbidly obese displaying 50% or more of body fat and early signs of heart disease! One kid couldn't even go a distance on a treadmill without being rushed to the hospital!Where was the law, social services and nosey neighbors? These kids and many, many more are dying at the hands of their parents! Why can't/weren't they arrested and suffered having their children pulled from their arms like the Andressohn's, the parents is Atlanta, the mid-west and NY? Ok, I do know the answer, just vinting a little.1. Who would take care of the children if as many parents were hauled off to jail? 2. The meat and dairy industries would go broke along with the pharmaseuticals, doctors, fast-food chains, full figured clothes designers, etc., etc., etc.In case you missed last week's episode and are interested in catching the next five shows, you can tune in tomorrow (July 3rd) on ABC at 9:00 p.m., E.S.T. Go here: http://www.shaqsfamilychallenge.com/publicsite/dailydrills/index.aspx You know, the one thing that so many parents tend to forget or are just comletely uninformed, is that children are innocent until they are mature enough to make concious and educated decisions. They are unemployed, and completely dependant upon the parents, who should be in control. Sadly, this is not the case. One or more generations are dying very slow deaths today!
