ConductsNationwide Recall of Veggie Booty Because of PossibleHealth RiskContact:Robert's American Gourmet1-800-626-7557http://www.robscape.com/FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- June 28, 2007 -- Robert'sAmerican Gourmet Food, Inc.of Sea Cliff, New York isrecalling Veggie Booty Snack Food all lots and sizes ,because it has the potential to be contaminated withSalmonella, an organism which can cause serious andsometimes fatal infections in young children, frail orelderly people, and others with weakened immunesystems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonellaoften experience fever, diarrhea (which may bebloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rarecircumstances, infection with Salmonella can result inthe organism getting into the bloodstream andproducing more severe illnesses such as arterialinfections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditisand arthritis.Veggie Booty was distributed nationwide and also inCanada through local distributors, internet sales,phone orders, mail orders and retail outlets.Veggie Booty is sold in a flexible plastic foil bag ina 4 oz., 1 oz., and l/2 oz. package. The brand name isRobert's American Gourmet, and all codes andexpiration dates of Veggie Booty are being recalled.Robert's American Gourmet has been notified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U. S.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of 51cases of Salmonella across 17 states, associated orrelated to the consumption of the Veggie Booty,predominately in children of three years of age oryounger. Based on the information provided by the CDCand FDA Robert's American Gourmet has decided toconduct this recall as a precautionary measure, eventhough there are no confirmed positive results.
