Certified Organic Watermelon Fund-raiser for Summer Youth Program

Greetings all,

 

I am sending out information asking for all to help

participate in our fund-raising efforts for our summer

youth agricultural enrichment program called Deep

Roots.

 

Over the course of the next 4 months Healthy Solutions

/ DC Produce Co-operative / NC Produce Co-operative

will be selling a number of different items to raise

funds to kick off the Deep Roots Program in the Summer

of 2008.

 

Our first fund-raising activity will be selling

Certified Organic Watermelons for $5.50 each, all

watermelons will average in weight of 8-9lb. The are

Seeded watermelons grown in Florida called Sugar

Babies.

 

Our goal is to sell at least 180 watermelon.

We will take orders from Today until June 28, 2007.

Orders can be picked up at any of DC Produce Co-op

drop off points on Friday June 29, 2007 or Saturday

June 30, 2007. DC Produce Co-op has drop off points

in SE Washington DC, Columbia Maryland, and NE

Baltimore Maryland. We will also deliver large numbers

of watermelons to organizations or groups for a small

fee.

 

Deep Roots program ( A program under Healthy

Solutions) is designed to teach inner city youth about

agriculture and physically teach them how to grow and

harvest their own foods. We will visit many farms

during the course of the summer as well as tend our

own garden. The number of youth to be accepted into

the program really depends on how much we can generate

to get the program off and running.

 

Healthy Solutions,(DC and NC Produce Co-operative) is

a non-profit 501©(3) organization working to enhance

the lives of the undeserved, underprivileged, and/or

marginalized and to help them make informed decisions.
