We laughed at his werewolf movie because Michael J. Fox was a family actor.A family actor is one who grows up with your family intelevision and on the big screen and teaches you adultvalues from a young person's perspective. He was alwaysyoung and we'll forever carry his childlike face and laugh and mannerisms in our minds and hearts. Today, Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson'sis a progressive neurological disease, and we are sad tobe witness as his bad days begin to outnumber his good days. We've seen the symptoms, through Michael J. Fox and hiscourageous communications and heroic effort to promotehuman stem cell research and set up his foundation for such research. We've witnessed his tremors and slurred speech, and have beentouched by Fox's efforts to find a cure. Science has identifieda cause, and the shame of it all is that so few people haveread that milk consumption may be the etiology of Parkinson'sDisease. The May 1, 2007 issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology (2007 165(9):998-1006) reports a strong association between milk consumption and Parkinson's Disease.Teams of researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Research Triangle Park, NC, the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA, and the Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA investigated dairyconsumption data from 130,864 human subjects (57,689 men and 73,175 women) and determined that:"Dairy product consumption was positively associated with risk of Parkinson's disease."The authors conclude:"These data suggest that dairy consumption may increase the risk of Parkinson's Disease, particularly in men." On April 7, 2006, the Notmilk Letter reported a link betweenmilk consumption and Parkinson's Disease.
