Guest guest
There has been talk this year about the use of plastic bags and their effect on the environment. (Plastic bags are made out a petroleium by-product.) IKEA stated earlier this year that they want to charge people for their plastic bags, which will reduce their use. A check today of the news shows that one small Canadian city is now banning the use of plastic bags and another city in Canada is considering a voluntary ban (see http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Edmonton/2007/03/22/3806561.html ), and that San Francisco is considering banning plastic bags that cannot be made into mulch (see http://kcbs.com/pages/318775.php? contentType=4 & contentId=385754 ). I recently read a letter from a child in the PCC newsletter asking customers to use reusable bags and asking PCC to charge for bags. I personally have a reusable bag from PCC and recently bought one also from Whole Foods. I would have done that a long time ago if I would have known that Whole Foods gives you a 5 cent rebate on your bill for using your own reusable bag. The bag is only 99 cents and so you can over time get all your money back and some doing this. Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and PCC allows me to bring my own bags. I'm going to write other stores I shop at and see if they can do this also. Ron
