Guest guest
Dear Raw Seattle/Raw Washington Community, At Jeff Rogers' request and after discussions between Jeff, Monika Kinsman, Orion Bard, Christian Blackburn (creator of the RawSeattle.org website), Raw Network of Washington board members, and myself (Eric Farris), we have come to an agreement that we feel will optimize our web presence, the dissemination of information, and our ability to reach people not only in the greater Seattle area or even the whole Northwest, but the World-Wide Web. With the advent of The Raw Network of Washington, the .org web site has been providing the level of service that RawSeattle.org has provided over the years, and then some. All administrators of RawSeattle.org, past and present, have unanimously agreed that our community is served best by migrating all function and content of RawSeattle.org over to .org for the following reasons: 1. More agreeable " first impression " . RawSeattle.org's current appearance and technology are out of date, whereas .org has much more appeal, in line with the image we wish to present. 2. No need to duplicate effort. The content that requires the most maintenance on RawSeattle.org has been the details on upcoming events. .org provides this same information, not only for the greater Seattle area, but all of Washington state (to the extent that community users inform the .org administrators). 3. More inclusive. There is a bigger local community than just the greater Seattle area. Great thinking on Monika's part to have included all of Washington state in her planning! Everything that Seattle area folks would want or look for, can be found on .org. Even better, Washington users outside the Seattle area can get information pertaining to them too now. 4. While Raw Seattle was an unofficial " community " , the Raw Network of Washington is an official non-profit, which has the potential to open up more doors for our community. What will this look like? Anyone searching the internet using key words such as `raw foods', `Seattle', and so on, will still find us. RawSeattle.org will still exist as a domain name. However, from now on, it redirects to .org. In addition, all the same content which RawSeattle.org has provided—links, photos, a few recipes, event details, etc.—will all still be available, on .org. For much the same reasons as above, the moderators of the Raw Seattle have decided to change the name, and consequently the URL, to Raw Washington. Otherwise, all functionality and content will remain the same. You will be notified when the change occurs and you will automatically be a member of the new group. The notification will give you details of the exact name, URL, email, etc. Archives of RawSeattle at , should remain available at the new site. When you receive the notification, please change your address book and bookmarks to reflect the new email address and URL. As the moderators and administrators of these internet sites and services, we discussed the ramifications and implications of the changes, and came to the agreements we present here as the best working solution that we believe will lead to the most convenience and satisfaction overall. Attempting unanimous agreement among all member/users did not make sense to us; it just isn't practical or even necessary. We will continue to provide the best service to the community so that everyone is as happy as possible with our new internet presence. We are glad to be working closely with Monika to provide the best possible exposure and support for all of us in the raw food community in the Seattle area and throughout the state. Thank you for your support of this community and for this exciting transition!
