Vasile, a Comox Valley raw and living foods chef, will offer a raw and living food demonstration 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Thrifty Foods on Saturday. A raw and living foods diet, also called raw food or raw vegan, is based on fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds which have not been heated more than 48 degrees Celsius (118 degrees Fahrenheit). Living foods emphasizes the food hasn’t been cooked or processed, thereby destroying its natural vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
