In the land of brats and beer, an unlikely feast

With a cookbook, a restaurant and their own co-op community, raw-food

devotees nourish a trend.

The pies were unbaked, the sage stuffing uncooked, and the Thanksgiving

loaf was, well, rare.

And that's exactly how the people at the potluck wanted it.

It might have been concerns over poor health, a religious belief or

apprehension about processed foods that brought them, but all 40 people

arrived in a Barron, Wis., home on a recent Thursday night to eat

heaping plates of raw, vegan fare.

Jeff,

Thanks for passing this on. I'm from the land of brats and beer myself. Good

to see some people bucking the tradition.

Although my family has pretty much disowned me too because of the diet, even

though I still eat some of their food.

Nick
